How much will it cost me?
A ladder into a sound existing hatch is usually £250–£500 fitted. Widening an opening or adding an insulated hatch changes that, and the survey tells you before you commit. VAT is included in the figure we quote.
Am I committing to anything by asking?
No. The survey is free, the quote is yours to keep for 30 days, and plenty of people take it away and think about it.
Will you need to cut a bigger hatch?
Only if the existing opening is too small for the ladder that suits your ceiling height. Many older hatches are, and the survey tells you either way before anything is cut.
How long does the install take?
Most standard installations into an existing opening are finished in a few hours. Widening a hatch or trimming joists adds time, and the survey tells you which applies.
Do I need Building Regulations approval?
Usually not for simple storage access, but the rules can change if the loft is being converted into living space or if structural work is involved. We can advise after seeing the hatch and how you plan to use the loft.
Can you board and insulate at the same time?
Yes — boarding and topping up insulation are commonly done on the same visit as the ladder, which saves a second trip and a second set-up.
